Information from Vice-Deans

By way of the Resolution of the Council of the Faculty of Electronics of July 12, 2017, the following decisions were made with respect to degree programmes’ plans and curricula (note: please familiarise yourself with the motions of the Students’ Self-Governing Union provided below):

a need to complete all courses of the 1st year’s curriculum by the end of the 4th semester of one’s studies at the Faculty regardless of the student’s status over the course of these semesters (admission to a semester, studying without admission, Dean’s leave), permissible credit deficits in 1st cycle full-time programmes:  11 ECTS credits after 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th semester, 0 credits after the 6th semester.  The credit deficit comprises all courses that have not been completed including foreign language courses, sports classes, and courses in the humanities. Permissible credit deficits in 2nd cycle full-time programmes: 8 ECTS credits after the 1st and 22nd semester. The credit deficit comprises all courses that have not been completed including foreign language courses, sports classes, and courses in the humanities.

Upon a motion put forward by the Students’ Self-Governing Union of the Faculty of Electronics, it has been decided that 

the decision with respect to item 1 will be binding from the beginning of the summer semester 2017/2018, as an exception, only in the winter semester 2017/2018, the permissible deficit after the 2nd semester will be 15 ETCS credits, before the winter semester 2017/2018, the aggregated deficit will not include deficient credits to be obtained in foreign language courses (does not apply to students after their 6th semester)

Rules for admissions to the winter semester 2017/2018 and granting leaves applicable to full-time 1st cycle students

Students in the semester L/2016/2017 who have the “admitted to semester” status

  1. Students admitted to the semester L/2016/2017 who exceeded their credit deficits but have not yet used a Dean’s leave apply for a year’s Dean’s leave for the semesters Z/2017/2018- L/2017/2018. After the Dean’s leave, the student’s achievements will be evaluated and a decision on their admission to the consecutive semester will be made.
  2. students who return from their Dean’s leaves conduct any due repeat courses and outstanding courses under pain of the initiation of a procedure of removal from the students’ list; b. students having their year-long Dean’s leaves can attend courses in advance during the semester falling on their leave on condition they meet the condition specified in item a. Repeat and outstanding courses, as well as those fulfilled in advance, cannot exceed 20 ECTS per semester.
  3. Students admitted to the semester L/2016 who exceeded their credit deficits and have already used 1 semester of a Dean’s leave apply for a Dean’s leave for the semester Z/2017/2018. During their Dean’s leave, they attend all possible repeat and outstanding courses. After their Dean’s leave, they apply for a permit to study without being admitted to the students’ list. The decision to grant a student the status of “studying without being admitted” will depend on their previous achievements and fulfilment of repeat and outstanding courses.

Students in the semester L/2016/2017 who have the “Dean’s leave” status

  1. Students having their 1st Dean’s leave in the semester L/2016/2017 apply for a Dean’s leave for the semester Z/2017/2018. During their Dean’s leave, they need to attend repeat and outstanding courses. In the event courses are fulfilled in advance, the ECTS sum of all courses attended in the semester Z/2017/2018 cannot exceed 20 ECTS. 2. Students having their 2ns Dean’s leave in the semester L/2016/2017 who in the semester Z/2016 had the status “studying without being admitted” or “admitted to the semester” apply for a permit to study without being admitted in the semester Z/2017/2018. The decision to grant a student the status of “studying without being admitted” will depend on their previous achievements and fulfilment of repeat and outstanding courses. 

Students in the semester L/2016/2017 who have the “studying without being admitted” status

Students with the status of “studying without being admitted” in the semester L/2016/2017 who exceeded the credit deficit and are not admitted to the consecutive semester, in the event of having used their 1st Dean’s leave, apply for a  2nd Dean’s leave for the semester Z/2017/2018.
