Paweł HAWRYSZKÓW, PhD, Assistant Professor, Researcher at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST), Poland. He graduated with honours at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at WUST in 2003, receiving the Minister of Infrastructure award for his master’s thesis. He obtained the scientific degree of doctor of technical sciences in 2009, receiving the award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for his doctoral thesis and the award of the Scientific Committee of the 4th International Conference Footbridge 2011 for publishing the results of research carried out as part of the research project of Ministry of National Education in Poland. Since 2009 he has been working at WUST. His main scientific activity is focused on dynamics of footbridges and bridge structures, cable-stayed bridges, bridge monitoring (SHM), BIM technology and FEM advanced analysis. In the years 2008-2012 he worked in Freyssinet Poland as a specialist in the installation of stay cable systems and in the pre-stressing. He participated in construction of 8 cable-stayed bridges and over 10 other bridge structures, 1 stadium and 1 skyscraper. He managed the works on the installation of the largest stay cable system in Poland, carried out on the Rędziński Bridge in Wrocław. In the years 2004-2008 he cooperated with the Research and Design Office Mosty-Wrocław as a specialist in conceptual design and advanced calculations of untypical and complicated bridge structures. Co-designer of three new, non-standard bridge structures, including an innovative, cross-border, cable-stayed footbridge made of glued-laminated wood in Sromowce Niżne with the most likely longest span in the world (90 m) in this structure class. Author or co-author of 180 publications. He took part in the research of 100 bridges. Organiser of 5 renowned international scientific conferences and co-organiser of 3 international scientific congresses. A person involved in the education and academic development of students. Member of international associations IABSE and EASD, member – expert of the Concrete Structure Section of the Committee for Civil Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Polish Committee for Standardisation, Vice-Chair of the Polish Society of Bridge Engineers Lower Silesian Section, Secretary of the Polish Group of IABSE.
