About me:

I am a member of the research and teaching staff at the Faculty of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the Wrocław University of Technology.

I obtained my Master's degree in July 2001 by defending a thesis on biodegradable plastics. In January 2008, I completed my PhD by defending a thesis on heat transfer processes in the freezing and thawing of food products, as well as prototype thermal insulation materials used for packaging. I am currently employed in the Department of Energy Conversion Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical and Energy Engineering.

In February 2023, the Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology appointed me as the Accessibility Leader at the Faculty of Mechanical and Energy Engineering to provide assistance in difficult situations: https://wme.pwr.edu.pl/studenci/informacje/pomoc-w-trudnych-sytuacjach

In November 2023, I obtained the title of Internal Trainer at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology by participating in the 'School of Education Leaders' programme. This programme was part of the 'Teaching Excellence at Universities' project, Measure 3.4, which was run by the Ministry of Education and Science. This project was managed by the Centre for Teaching Excellence at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Conference: 'Teaching Excellence at Universities: We summarise the project and announce plans for the future.

Since completing the 25^(th) Tutor School in January 2024, I have been a certified tutor, providing academic and/or developmental support to students.

My research interests include issues related to:

- additive technology (3D printing) using plastic-based biodegradable materials and metals.
- numerical modelling of heat transfer in thermal insulation (produced using 3D printing technology, among other methods);
- environmental engineering (functional materials based on biomass).
Environmental engineering (functional materials based on biomass);
- refrigeration (numerical modelling of the food freezing and thawing process);
Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly construction and energy certification in construction using the ArCADia-TERMOCAD programme.

I am a Guest Editor (Academic Editor) for the following special issues:

1. Functional/Structural Polymers and Composites Produced by the Addition of Plant Biomass or Waste Materials Using Various Production Technologies - https://www.mdpi.com/journal/materials/special_issues/VY0AC74F9Z

PROJECTS

The 'School of Education Leaders' project is part of the 'Teaching Excellence at Universities' initiative, which is overseen by the Ministry of Education and Science and falls under Measure 3.4. The Centre for Teaching Excellence at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology supervises management in higher education institutions. Following the project's initial training, an 8-hour workshop entitled 'How to motivate students by making classes more attractive' was conducted for Wrocław University of Science and Technology employees. Completion date: 7 July 2023
'Active Tutor' – Tutoring processes: developmental, academic, and academic-developmental. This is implemented as part of the CDD at WUT. The manager is: Anna Stanclik, PhD (Coordinator of the Vice-Rector for Education for Tutoring at Wrocław University of Science and Technology). Each student is expected to attend eight to ten meetings per semester in a given academic year. Details will be provided at the meetings.
The project is titled 'Investigation of the influence of the spatial porous structure on heat transfer in a high-temperature heat exchanger manufactured using additive 3D printing technology' and will run from 03/2025 to 03/2029. The manager is: Magdalena Nemś, PhD, Eng., Professor at the University
Tasks:
- Analysis of porous structures for 3D printing in metal
Designing several dozen porous tubular heat exchangers
- Preparation of technical documentation and geometric drawings for CFD
- Participation in training courses
